Product Overview

Economizer is applied as a floating surface layer on top of any molten neutral salt bath. Its primary role is to act as a thermal and chemical blanket — cutting off the bath surface from the surrounding atmosphere, suppressing fume release, and dramatically reducing the amount of heat that radiates off the open bath between loads.

The result is a cooler, cleaner furnace environment for operators, lower fuel or electricity consumption per shift, and slower evaporative loss of the bath salt itself. When used consistently, Economizer pays for itself through energy savings alone — with the reduced fume load adding a secondary benefit on shop-floor air quality and ventilation requirements.

What Economizer Does for Your Bath

Fume Suppression

Forms a surface blanket that cuts off vapour release from the molten bath — reducing fume density at furnace level and improving air quality for operators.

Reduced Heat Loss

Acts as a thermal insulating layer, trapping radiant heat that would otherwise escape from the open bath surface. Less heat loss means lower energy consumption per cycle.

Less Salt Evaporation

Slows the rate at which bath salt evaporates and is carried off as vapour — extending bath life and reducing how frequently the bath needs to be topped up.

Energy Saving

With reduced heat loss and less frequent reheating cycles, the furnace maintains working temperature using less fuel or electricity per shift.

Uniform Bath Temperature

Helps maintain a consistent temperature profile across the bath surface, which contributes to more uniform treatment of the loaded components.

How to Apply Economizer

Heat the bath to working temperature

Bring the neutral salt bath to its normal operating temperature range (660°C–950°C depending on the process grade).

Float Economizer on the surface

Distribute the Economizer granules evenly across the entire open surface of the molten bath to form a continuous blanket layer.

Load components as normal

Continue loading and unloading workpieces through the Economizer layer. The layer reforms after each dip with minimal disruption.

Top up as needed

Replenish the Economizer layer at the start of each shift or whenever the surface cover has depleted to maintain full fume suppression and heat retention.

Works Best With

Economizer is most effective when used together with Regenerator — the Economizer controls fume and heat loss at the surface, while the Regenerator maintains bath chemistry and prevents decarburization at the working level.
