KNO₃ — White crystalline oxidising salt (saltpeter) used in heat treatment draw salt baths, fertilizers and glass manufacturing. Melts at 334°C.
Potassium Nitrate (KNO₃), commonly known as saltpeter, is a white crystalline inorganic oxidising salt with a molecular weight of 101.1 g/mol. It melts at 334°C and decomposes above 400°C — making it suitable for molten salt applications in the 150°C–400°C range. Its near-neutral pH of 6–6.5 and stable molten-state behaviour make it a primary constituent of heat treatment draw salt bath mixtures used for austempering and martempering of steel.
KNO₃ is directly relevant to S. N. Enterprise's existing heat treatment customer base — it is the base component in nitrate draw salt formulations that underpin the same processes served by our SN-140 and SN-220 tempering salts. Full manufacturer documentation (COA, MSDS, TDS) supplied with every order from our Shapar warehouse.
