Product Overview

TC-30 is an alkaline powder compound that serves two practical roles in the heat treatment and metal finishing workflow. Dissolved in cold or hot water at a 5–6% concentration, it works as a degreaser and rust preventive — removing oils, machining fluids, and contamination from components before they enter the heat treatment furnace, and protecting the treated surface from rust after the process is complete.

The same solution is equally suited to barreling and deburring operations, where components are tumbled with steel balls or ceramic media in a barrel finishing machine. TC-30 acts as the process fluid in these operations — providing lubrication for the media, assisting in material removal, and simultaneously leaving a rust-preventive film on the component surface as it emerges from the barrel. This dual function — surface finishing and rust protection in a single operation — makes TC-30 a cost-effective choice for high-volume finishing lines.

Why TC-30

How to Use TC-30

Method A — Washing Tank (Rack)

Prepare the bath

Dissolve TC-30 at 5–6% concentration in cold or hot water. Stir until fully dissolved before use.

Degrease (pre-treatment)

Immerse or rinse components in the TC-30 solution to remove oils, machining fluids, and contamination before loading into the heat treatment furnace.

Rinse (post-treatment)

After heat treatment, immerse or rinse components again to clean off quench oil, salt residue, or surface contamination.

Drain and dry

Remove components and allow to drain. The alkaline film left on the surface provides short-term rust protection during handling and storage.

Method B — Barreling & Deburring

Prepare the TC-30 solution

Dissolve TC-30 at 5–6% in water. Use this as the process fluid in the barrel finishing machine alongside steel balls or ceramic media.

Load barrel

Add components, media (steel balls or ceramic), and TC-30 solution to the barrel in the correct ratios as per your barrel machine specification.

Run cycle

Run the barrel for the required duration to achieve the desired surface finish and deburring result. TC-30 lubricates the media and assists material removal.

Unload and inspect

Components emerge with improved surface finish and a rust-preventive film from the alkaline TC-30 solution — combining surface finishing and rust protection in one operation.

Safety Precautions

TC-30 is alkaline in nature. Always wear chemical-resistant gloves and protective boots when handling the powder or working with the solution. Avoid contact with eyes — rinse with water immediately if contact occurs. Handle in a well-ventilated area.
